UBC’s Contemporary Players (CP) strive to perform some of the most exciting works of the 21st Century, including works especially written for them right now, plus classics from the late 20th Century. CP plays numerous concerts every year at UBC’s Barnett Hall and also in such other venues as the Belkin Art Gallery.
Among the composers that CP has performed recently are works by Ana Sokolovic, Michael Oesterle, Scott Godin, Carl Vine, Marc Mellits, Ali Askin, Gyorgy Kurtag, Salvatore Sciarrino, John Psathas, Tristan Murail, Helmut Lachenmann, R. Murray Schafer, Gyorgy Ligeti, David Jaggard, Ronn Yedidia, David Rakowski, Alfred Schnittke, Frederic Rzewski, Iannis Xenakis, Luciano Berio, Witold Lutoslawski, Alexina Louie, Howard Bashaw, Olivier Messiaen, Jordan Nobles, George Crumb, Toshio Hosokawa, Toru Takemitsu, Stephen Montague, Andre Ristic, Keith Hamel, Dorothy Chang, James Harley, Andre Ristic, among many others.
