The Master of Music (MMus) encourages an understanding of the creative practices of music performance and composition as rich sites for artistic expression.

While developing expertise in the practice of music, you have the opportunity to expand your critical thinking, writing, and research skills.

Our award-winning faculty will mentor you as you step into the professional world or prepare for studies at the doctoral level. A two-year residency is the norm.

The Master of Music in performance and composition is offered to applicants who have achieved necessary levels of attainment and productivity at the undergraduate level and give reasonable promise of further significant accomplishment.

The MMus is often a final academic step for musicians who wish to enter the professional world, although it may prove an intermediate step for those wishing to prepare for university teaching.
