Holly Bergeron-Dumaine’s research encompasses Music Pedagogy, counter-canonical approaches to Popular Music studies & pedagogy, and analysis of music in video games with an emphasis on Timbre & Genre.

UBC Choirs and the VSO premiere Tan Dun’s Buddha Passion in Canada

Hamilton Lau wins first prize at the Robert and Ellen Silverman Piano Concerto Competition at UBC
Congratulations to second place winner, Daniel Tong who performed Beethoven’s Concerto No.4 in G Major Op.58 and third place winner, Lucy Moon who performed Felix Mendelssohn’s Concerto No.1 in G Minor Op.25, for their beautiful and inspired performances.
PhD Student, Sherryl Sewepagaham awarded 2024 Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarship
Sherryl’s research is focused on revitalizing the Cree language through Indigenous songs and examining gender within Cree traditions. Sherryl is studying with Associate Professor Dr. Dylan Robinson xwélmexw (Stó:lō/Skwah).
UBC DMA Candidate Matthew-John Knights selected as Symphony Nova Scotia’s fifth Maria Anna Mozart Award Recipient
The Maria Anna Mozart Award supports the work of Canadian women and non-binary composers. Matthew-John Knights’ original composition will premiere with Symphony Nova Scotia during the 2025/26 concert season. They are studying with Professor Dorothy Chang.
