About

Xinyu (Felix) Zhang is an active saxophonist and educator from China currently living in Vancouver. He is an artist from SAHDUOO Saxophone Handcrafting Manufacturing in Taiwan. He is a certified musician in the Canada Council for the Arts, focusing on the research and performance of Chinese music works on classical saxophone.

He holds a Master of Music degree from Zhejiang Conservatory of Music in China. He received funding from the Postgraduate Committee of the Ministry of Education of China to hold Chinese works concerts in 2016, and received a First-Class National Academic Scholarship and Outstanding Master Graduate. In the 2017, Felix was invited to hold a chamber music concert at the Shanghai International Music Exhibition. He also won the gold medal in the China – Japan International Music Competition and two gold medals at the Vancouver KIWANIS Music Festival.

Felix is currently studying for a Doctor of Musical Arts degree under Dr. Julia Nolan at the University of British Columbia. Research areas include saxophone solo, chamber music, and music education.

Felix is a director of the Canadian International Cultural and Art Exchange Association and is mainly responsible for the commercial concert dissemination of music and the organization of educational activities between countries.
