Suzanne Rigden, soprano, is making her mark on the International stage with her “remarkable gift for stratospheric coloratura” and witty “comic genius.” She has performed lead roles with opera companies and orchestras across Canada and internationally. Her most recent seasons included a return to Pacific Opera Victoria as Amour in Orphée et Eurydice (2026) and Susanna in Le nozze di Figaro (2024) as well as soprano soloist in the Brahms Requiem and Carmina Burana with Collegium Cantorum. She has also covered Die Nachtigall in Die Vögel with Pacific Opera Victoria and appeared in the “Friends of Timothy” concert with the Victoria Symphony.

Recent performances include Despina in Così fan tutte with Opera Nova Scotia and Violetta in La Traviata with Maritime Concert Opera. Suzanne also performed the orchestrated world premiere in Berlin, Germany of Léa in L’hiver attend beaucoup de moi by Laurence Jobidon with Musique3Femmes (now known as Opéra Magnolia) a performance ensemble and charitable organization committed to fostering the next generation of Canadian women-identifying opera creators, which she co-founded in 2018. Additional engagements include Lisa in Countess Maritza with Pacific Opera Victoria and Gianetta in The Gondoliers with Opera Nova Scotia. Past highlights include Danica in Svadba with l’Opéra de Montréal, Adele in Die Fledermaus with Vancouver Opera, and Tytania (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) and Zerbinetta (Ariadne auf Naxos) with Pacific Opera Victoria.

Alongside her professional singing career, she has been passionate about teaching, community engagement and the creating new immersive operatic experiences for students and audiences. After living abroad in Berlin, Germany for five years, she returned to Canada in 2022 to take a position as Part-Time Lecturer and Voice instructor at Dalhousie University’s Fountain School of Performing Arts. In 2023 she co-founded  OperAtlantic, an emerging opera company in Atlantic Canada with a goal of broadening the operatic landscape, engaging local singers and emerging artists and eventually create full-scale productions.

Rigden holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Memorial University of Newfoundland and a Master of Music in Opera Performance from University of British Columbia. She is also an alumna of the Merola Opera Program in San Francisco, Tanglewood Music Centre, Banff Centre and l’Atelier lyrique de l’Opéra de Montréal.
