Originally from Japan, Shiho Ogura is a PhD student in Ethnomusicology. Her current research interests involve the presentation of Others in Thai classical music, Thainess, nationalism, timbre, and the combinational approach of ethnography and analysis. She is also interested in music education, transnational contemporary music-making in East and Southeast Asia, and the development of ethnomusicology in Japan.

She studied Thai classical music and Northeastern Thai folk music (Isan music) for about a year at Khon Kaen University, Thailand.
