About

Andrea Grant holds positions as the Director of the Young Artists Program at the Glimmerglass Festival, and as a Lecturer in Voice and Opera at the University of British Columbia. She was previously the Head of Music Staff for Wexford Festival Opera, principal coach of University of Toronto Opera, and a member of the music staff of the Canadian Opera Company and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Andrea has also worked with Opera Omaha, Calgary Opera, Vancouver Opera, Opera Atelier, Tapestry Opera, The Banff Centre, Soundstreams, Queen of Puddings Music Theatre, Mirvish Productions, Highlands Opera Studio, and Opera Vision Academy in Busseto, Italy. She is highly sought after as a freelance collaborative pianist and vocal coach, and enjoys a variety of experiences encompassing recital, opera and musical theatre. Andrea has collaborated with internationally acclaimed artists such as Ben Heppner, Deborah Voigt, Susan Graham, and Tara Erraught, and has performed recitals throughout North America, England, Europe, and Hong Kong. She has also been involved in the development and production of many contemporary works, including the world premiere of Terence Blanchard’s “Fire Shut up in my Bones”, Jack Perla’s “Shalimar the Clown”, Tobias Picker’s “Awakenings”, and revivals of Tobias Picker’s “Emmeline” and John Adams’ “The Death of Klinghoffer”. Andrea received her BMus (Hons) in Piano Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Music degree in Collaborative Piano from the University of Western Ontario, and a Diploma in Operatic Performance from the University of Toronto, and recently completed a Certificate in Diversity and Inclusion through Cornell University.
