We’re proud to announce that Carter Johnson (BMus’18) and Nicole Linaksita (BSci, BMus’16) have been named finalists at the 2020 Shean Piano Competition!
Open to amateur musicians between the ages of 15 and 28, the winner of the Competition will have the opportunity to perform with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra.
During their time at UBC, Johnson studied piano with Prof. Mark Anderson, while Linaksita studied with Prof. Corey Hamm.
Private students of Prof. Hamm and sessional instructor Amanda Chan are also among the six finalists, who will compete for the grand prize in Edmonton, May 14th–16th 2020.
The Shean Competition was started in 1996 by musicians Ranald & Vera Shean, whose dream was for young musicians to experience the same passion they had for music.
Congratulations everyone!
