UBC Music alum Gage Sippel accepted for tuba position in the National Academy Orchestra of Canada

Get to know the NAO! Gage Sippel is a 23 year old tubist from Seabird Island First Nation (Agassiz), British Columbia. He began playing tuba in his highschool band which led to a strong interest in music. After graduating from highschool he studied at the University of British Columbia School of Music under Peder Maclellan, Principal tubist of the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra. Gage completed both a bachelor’s in music performance in 2021, and a diploma in music performance in 2022 from the UBC School of Music.

Gage is currently in the process of completing his master’s degree in music performance at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music where he studies under famed tubist and pedagogue Daniel Perantoni. At IU, Gage has performed with the IU Philharmonic, the IU University Orchestra, and the IU Conductor’s Orchestra. Gage has also performed with other ensembles such as Vancouver based Symphony 21, and the Canadian Forces Naden Band.”
