Sophia Muño, piano

We celebrate the 100th Anniversary featuring Internationally recognized Canadian Mezzo-Soprano, Emily D’Angelo. D’Angelo opened the 2024/2025 Metropolitan Opera Season as Jess, the leading role in Grounded, an opera written specifically for her. In 2025, she won a Juno award for her recent recording and “The NY Times” calls her “one of the world’s special young singers.” She is the first and only vocalist to have been presented with the Leonard Bernstein Award from the Schleswig Holstein Festival. She returns this season to the Staatsoper Berlin, Wiener Staatsoper, Bayerische Staatsoper and the Metropolitan Opera.

Opera-West

This concert is made possible through the generosity of the Opera West Society, who is delighted to join us in celebrating 100 years of excellence at the Old Auditorium. Opera West and UBC Opera look forward to supporting the next generations of young opera singers during the Old Auditorium’s next 100 years. Ms. D’Angelo will present a concert of operatic excerpts joined by our own UBC Opera Ensemble.

This is an event you will not want to miss!
