Sessional Lecturer:  MUSC 520 — Introduction to Music Research

The UBC School of Music is offering a new Sessional Lecturer appointment during the first term of the 2018–2019 academic year. An Instructor is sought for the following course: 

Course and Title: MUSC 520, Introduction to Music Research

Appointment Period: September 1, 2018 — December 31, 2018

Position Title:  Sessional Lecturer

Load: 33% of full time (for one term) 

Course content: Introduction to techniques of music research and scholarly writing for graduate students in the M.Mus. and D.M.A. performance programs. Students are placed in the course based on an assessment of previous work.

Responsibilities: The Sessional Lecturer teaches 2 lectures per week (50 minutes each), and designs and grades all assignments for the course.

Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates with doctoral training in musicology, and experience teaching music history and research skills. 

Compensation: For 2018-19, the salary at base Step 1 will be $6,915.00, plus applicable benefits.  Salary rates are set by the Collective Agreement.

All positions are subject to funding and are governed by UBC’s Agreement on Conditions of Appointment for Sessional and Part-time Faculty Members.
