About
Dr. Yota Kobayashi is a Japanese-Canadian soundscape artist and creative technologist specializing in immersive and interactive media. His artistic research and creative practice explore human-computer interaction and experiential artwork through sound, audiovisual systems, sensing, and real-time media.
He holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Composition from the University of British Columbia and is a researcher at UBC’s Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems (ICICS). His work has been presented internationally at festivals, conferences, galleries, and museums across North America, Europe, and Asia. He is also Artistic Director of Formscape Arts Society, where he fosters interdisciplinary digital art collaborations between Canada and Japan.
