About

Jim Hopson is a JUNO Award-nominated trombonist, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger, and educator based in Vancouver, BC, Canada. He has been called a music industry ‘Game Changer’ (Stir Magazine, 2024) whose extensive body of work blurs the boundaries between genres and disciplines. A dedicated educator, he has taught private lessons and clinics to thousands of young musicians, and is an adjunct professor (low brass and jazz ensemble) at the UBC School of Music. Jim is a prolific composer/arranger/orchestrator, whose original work has been featured on numerous albums, TV shows, video games, and films. An internationally acclaimed Alphorn exponent, he has recorded two albums of original compositions for that instrument: ‘Generations’ (2018) and ‘en plein air’ (2024), available on all major platforms. JIm’s original compositions are published by Cherry Classics  IMBrassworks, and Phonos Music.
