SUBCLASS: Andrea Wong demonstrates CHIMIRA
Watch video | Ever seen an interactive mixing board made out of kids' toys? UBC student Andrea Wong combined Duplo blocks, a webcam, code, plus a ton of ingenuity to create CHIMIRA, the latest innovation from our Music & Tech program.
Pianist Nicole Linaksita (BSc/BMus’16) won third prize in the prestigious Eckhardt-Gramatté National Music Competition. The award comes with a cash prize of $1,500. Also competing in the final round, Megan Thibeault (DMPS'18) won a finalist prize of $1,000. Congratulations to Nicole and Megan!
UBC Music alumnae Elizabeth Harris soprano (BMus’16, MMus’18) and Ana Toumine soprano (BMus’12) are finalists in Vancouver Opera’s VOX Competition. Contestants compete for the grand prize in front of a live audience and panel of six esteemed judges including J. Patrick Raftery, Judith Forst (BMus’65, DLitt’91), and Leslie Dala (MMus’96). Hosted by CBC’s Sylvia L’Ecuyer. Congratulations and good luck to Elizabeth and Ana!

University Singers to sing at the Vatican
Join us in wishing the University Singers a safe journey, and once-in-a-lifetime musical experiences, as they embark on a 10-day performance tour through Italy. Among the highlights will be feature performances at St. Peter’s in the Vatican, St. Mark’s in Venice, and the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi.
