Arkora: Transfigured Light
Transfigured Light is a concert of vocal chamber music exploring themes of death, light, and rebirth. Taking place at twilight, Transfigured Light features microtonal vocal music of the past and present, including world premieres by Dorothy Chang, Brendon Randall-Myers, and Benton Roark (MMus'07, DMA'13) plus late Renaissance motets by Vicentino, Lassus, and Victoria. The concert will feature the Lumiphone, a 31-note-per-octave, eight-foot glass marimba. The program culminates with Pulitzer Prize-winning composer David Lang's Death Speaks, a five-part, haunting meditation on the transient nature of existence for soprano, electric guitar, piano, and violin, featuring Arkora co-director Kathleen Allan (BMus‘11) in the soloist role.
