Christin Reardon MacLellan President of the Coalition for Music Education in BC and conductor of UBC Concert Winds
Each year, on the first Monday in May, communities across Canada come together to celebrate and raise awareness for music education. The showcase concert, hosted by Charlotte Diamond, will feature Maestro Bramwell Tovey leading a massed ensemble of students from schools around the Lower Mainland.

The School of Music notes with great sadness the passing of Dr. John Sawyer, Associate Professor Emeritus, on Friday, April 7th, 2017. The 2017 Western Canadian Music Award nominations are in! We are proud to announce that several UBC Music personnel have been nominated this year.

UBC Music faculty member Stephen Chatman was nominated for Classical Composition of the Year for Choir Practice, A Comic Opera in One Act.

Standing Wave was nominated for Classical Ensemble of the Year. The ensemble includes UBC Music faculty members Vern Griffiths and Christie Reside, as well as UBC Music alumni Allen Stiles (BMus'84, MMus'86) and AK Coope.
