American composer John Corigliano has built one of the richest, most unusual, and most widely celebrated bodies of work of any composer in the last forty years. His “architectural” method of composing has allowed him to forge a strikingly wide range of musical materials into arches of compelling aural logic. Chan Centre Presents: Diego El Cigala
Diego El Cigala has been called “one of the most beautiful flamenco voices of our time,” by legendary guitarist Paco de Lucia. For this Chan Centre appearance in support of his brand new album Indestructible, El Cigala seamlessly melds the traditional sounds of his Spanish Gitano heritage with the intoxicating rhythms and melodies of salsa.
Arrive early to hear the newest ChanFare in the lobby. The ChanFare for Nov 20 is written by UBC Music student Walker Williams. ChanFares are commissioned by the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts. They are written and performed by students from the UBC School of Music.
