Two first class large chamber ensembles come together in the collaboration between the Turning Point Ensemble (CAN) and the Little Giant Chinese Chamber Orchestra (TAIWAN). This program includes inter-cultural works by Canadian and Taiwanese composers, including Small and Curious Places by UBC composition faculty member Dorothy Chang.

The Plastic Acid Orchestra, led by Giorgio Magnanensi, performs spectral music for chamber orchestra composed by Italian pioneer Giacinto Scelsi, French visionary Gérard Grisey, Hungarian innovator György Ligeti, and a new Canadian commission by UBC composition student Mariah Mennie.
The VSO reads works by BC composers including UBC students Danny Choi, Jaelem Bhate, Carolyn Quick and Ramsey Sadaka. With Assistant Conductor William Rowson and VSO composer-in-residence Jocelyn Morlock.

Transfigured Light is a project exploring microtonality in new and historical choral works. The first part of the program pairs rarely performed Renaissance works with world premieres by composers Dorothy Chang, Brendon Randall-Myers, and UBC alumnus Benton Roark, each composed for choir and chamber ensemble, including hand-built microtonal instruments. The evening culminates with Death Speaks, David Lang's masterful meditation on the transient nature of existence.
