The trombone/acoustic bass duo is usually a subset of a small jazz ensemble or chamber orchestra (e.g. Stravinsky’s Pulcinella!) – but in 1887 Edward Elgar wrote a duet for just these instruments as a wedding gift to a friend. This is the launching point for a programme that is based on music composed specifically for Brown and Berkman when they were artists in residence with Vancouver Pro Musica’s Sonic Boom Festival in 2015.
