Original compositions by Barish Golland, inspired by UBC scenery and soundscapes.
Barish Golland will perform original compositions from his new album, Filled with Peace. Works include Acadia Beach (inspired by the natural scenery around UBC), The Sanctuary – with soundscape backgrounds from the UBC Botanical Gardens (2012), Filled with Peace – with soundscape background from Spanish Banks beaches (2012), and Dedication to the Land, a newly composed piece dedicated to the Musqueam lands UBC is situated on.

Barish Golland is a Canadian jazz improvisationalist from Vancouver, B.C. His early inspiration was listening to mix tapes of Keith Jarrett solos while in the Arts music program at Canterbury High School, Ottawa. Barish went on to study jazz piano privately with Dave Hildinger, a University of Ottawa professor of big band arranging and former jazz pianist with New York's Sauter-Finegan Orchestra. Barish was accepted into McGill University's Faculty of Music, majoring in Composition with a minor in Jazz piano. Barish has composed music for chamber orchestra, big band and solo instruments, and his music has been performed in Istanbul, Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver.
