Sophisticated, swinging, and soulful, the Howard Chi trio, (led by Howard Chi on piano, with Silas Friesen on trumpet and Emilio Suarez on bass), is a gathering of 3 young, highly talented and active musicians in Vancouver. The members of the group come from a variety of musical backgrounds, cities, and schools, represented by UBC and Capilano University, and the cities of Burnaby, Saskatoon, and Calgary respectively. Despite the diversity of the group, it was their mutual interest in jazz music that brought them together to play. Howard Chi Trio will interpret a delightful variety of jazz classics ranging from jazz waltzes to jazz fusion that will highlight the musicians’ chemistry and musical spontaneity.
