"Beyond the Stage: International Engagement and the Challenge of Making Music in Service to Others"
Garrett will discuss his journey from classical music to humanitarian aid by reflecting on the challenges and opportunities facing young musicians interested in international service and engagement.

After graduating from the Eastman School of Music in 2013, Garrett Rubin received a Fulbright-mtvU Fellowship to establish music education programs for displaced children in Jordan. In the years since, Garrett's career as an aid worker and researcher has shifted his focus from music to education, youth development and women's issues in armed conflict, including projects on Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and Yemen.
