The School of Music supports the UBC Climate Strike

The School of Music at the University of British Columbia stands in solidarity with our many students and colleagues who will participate, along with millions of others around the world, in the Global Climate Strike scheduled for this Friday, Sep. 27th.

We are compelled by the overwhelming scientific consensus that demands urgent action in response to our unprecedented planetary climate emergency.

As musicians we feel we have a role to play in bringing people together and creating community around this issue. This Friday the School invites students, staff, and faculty to gather at 10 a.m. in front of the School building. There, an intercultural marching band will strike up lively music and lead us on a procession down Main Mall to join a rally that will take place at the Nest at 11 a.m, followed by a rally at Vancouver City Hall at 1 p.m. and a march from there to downtown Vancouver.

Let us show strength in music and in numbers!
